AWAKEN | DAY 5
“But God is so rich in mercy, and he loved us so much, that even though we were dead because of our sins, he gave us life when he raised Christ from the dead. (It is only by God’s grace that you have been saved!)”EPHESIANS 2:4-5
I grew up in a blessed family. We weren’t poor, but we certainly weren’t rich. Yet, there were days I wished we had more. I can’t help but smile when I see the short, two-letter, one-syllable word “so” used twice in the passage above. This simple adverb carries tremendous implication! Not only is our God rich in mercy, which is incredibly noteworthy, but He’s SO rich in mercy, and He loved us SO much. It’s a powerful reminder on my worst days. On the days when I’m feeling anything but alive, I can read this passage and be comforted by the extent of God’s mercy and love that gives me new life. I’m SO rich in Christ.
Thank you, God, for your mercy and love. Today I’m grateful your love for me is SO much greater than I could ever imagine. Help me see the abundance of your mercy and love. And, remind me of the abundant life you have purposed for me. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
