AWAKEN | DAY 21
“One generation commends your works to another; they tell of your mighty acts.”PSALM 145:4
We perpetuate truth when we speak to the next generation about God’s goodness and the great things He has done. The verse in this psalm immediately brings to mind a verse in Psalm 100, “For the Lord is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations.”
It’s not that we’re obligated to speak about God. It is simply that Jesus’ death, burial and resurrection have made it possible for us to be part of God’s family (Romans 8:15). We have a “mighty act” we want to talk about — an act of perfect love and unfathomable mercy! As adopted children of God, who have enjoyed the wonders of God’s creation and been chosen, blessed, delivered, protected and saved from our sinful pasts, we can’t help but proclaim: “He has saved me!” “He is always good!” “He cares for, loves and has plans for me!” The truth about who our heavenly Father is just spills out.
Take the time this week to be aware and expressive of God’s awesome handiwork and His sacrifice. Remember that you’ve been accepted, loved and included in the King’s family, and talk about it! Tell your children, neighbors, family, students and friends. Recount the stories of how He came through for you when you didn’t think there was a possible solution. Talk about the comfort He brings when no one else can provide reassurance. Lift the Lord up today with your words of admiration and gratitude. Let the truth of who Jesus is spread from one generation to another.
Lord Jesus, thank you for the wonders you have created. I marvel at every living thing around me. Thank you, too, for the great sacrifice you made on my behalf. You are limitless in your power and love. Your grace is boundless. I will remember and declare your wonderful works. I love you!
